Aire and Calder Navigation, Whitley to Heck

Whitley Lock to Heck Bridge DN14 0JP. M62 exit J34 then take A19 to Selby and immediately take a right turn to Whitley Lock, see sign. A C&RT Key is required for this length as the gates can be locked over night from 5.00pm to 8.00am. Park in the angler’s car park just past the house on the right over the bridge, the toilet can be accessed using the same key. No fishing from the boat moorings. No fishing by the water point. Fishing starts past the boat moorings down to Heck Bridge. For the Heck Bridge entrance go to DN11 0BQ and park in anglers car park, cross the bridge, turn right through the gate and fish back up to Whitley Lock. This venue can produce big weights of Skimmers and Bream when conditions are favourable. Also contains Perch, Hybrids, Roach, Chub etc.

Boothferry Canal Allience  Aire and Calder Navigation

As members of the Boothferry Alliance group members can now fish from Great Heck down to Goole. There are numerous access points along this 12 mile stretch of canal, members should go on the BACJCC web site for access points .

Disabled Accesses  – Aire and Calder Navigation, Great Heck.

There are two car parks alongside the canal in Great Heck which enable disabled anglers to park behind their peg and both provide further “short walk” access to fishing along the canal. The fisherman’s car park adjacent to canal bridge at Heck is easy to find, while the second is down a dirt lane to the right as you leave the village heading east just before the railway bridge.

As members of the Boothferry A&C Alliance, Mirfield members can fish the entire length of the canal to Goole and there are numerous easy access points for disabled or physically handicapped anglers along this 12 mile stretch of canal. No Fishing is allowed from the boat moorings, from moored boats or in the locks and associated structures. No fishing by the water point, fishing starts past the boat mooring down to Heck Bridge.

Heck Bridge Entrance

(w3w brighten.hogs.faster) Keepnet Ban from 15th March to 16th June Except in Official Matches From Great Heck, park in the anglers car park situated on the left before the bridge, access across the bridge, turn right through the gate and fish back up to Whitley Lock.

Further Information

There is no fishing allowed on opposite bank of the towpath below the locks until past the boat moorings.

Abusive or threatening behaviour towards other canal users will not be tolerated.
