Thanks for showing an interest in who runs your angling club. If you have visited some of the other pages on this site you will already know we are a dedicated bunch of like minded anglers.

Most have fished since childhood and we all share a passion not just for catching fish, but for promoting our sport on natural waters and protecting the environment on which their survival relies.

Ian Dawson

Chairman

Profile of Mirfield AC Vice Chairman Ian Dawson. Born 1954. A retired former employee of Cadbury’s for nearly 40 years, came to angling quite late at nearly 20 years of age. I joined Gomersal AC and Old bank WMC AC to take the opportunity of travelling on club trips by coach to rivers such as the Trent & Witham.

Many of the anglers I fish with today at Mirfield AC events filled the seats on those coaches with me.

Still enjoy other activities and sports, but Angling is and always has been my first passion since that first full year fishing club matches in 1974.

Peter Dawson

Club Secretary

Born 1947 started fishing as a teenager in the early 1960s with two pals from Roberttown, I Joined BFD no1 in 1963 to fish the local river Calder for Roach.

In 1966 we joined Ripon Piscatorial A.C. and fished their club matches on the river Ure, in the 1970s we were asked if we would like to fish for the Ripon team in the North Central League we accepted the invitation and won the league in 1978.

I joined the Gas club in the 1990s and fished the Broad canal matches, in 2002 the then Gas club secretary moved away from the area the president asked if I could do the secretary’s job on a temporary basis until a new secretary is appointed.
